This week I researched the bucket hydraulic system on the John Deer excavator we had on loan from Birch equipment. First I weighed the bucket with a counter weight that weighed 195 lbs and raised it with the blade all the way down to lift it off the ground and get the system up to temperature. Next I lowered the cylinder to 2" and shut it down for five minutes. After five minutes I re-measured the cylinder and it had a 1/8" sag that was up to specs in the manual. Then I re-raised the cylinder to 2" and waited five more minutes after it was shut down and again there was 1/8th inch lag ..All in all the bucket is up to specs.
